Important Reminder
The District will test its emergency communication system on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Parents, guardians, and caregivers should receive a communication test notification by phone, text, and email. The message will clearly indicate that it is a test and that no action is required. Check your emergency contact information in PowerSchool. Please make sure your phone numbers, email addresses, and emergency contacts are accurate and up to date so the District can reach you when needed.

Dear Parent(s), Guardian(s), and Caregiver(s),
As the new school year begins, I want to remind families of the District’s Religious and Cultural Observance Policy (I-340) and, more importantly, what it means for students and families. The District’s guiding principle is simple: students should be able to participate in religious and cultural observances without being penalized at school because of their absence.
What families need to know:
- Absences for religious or cultural observances are excused.
- Please provide advance notice whenever possible. Five school days’ notice is preferred so educators, coaches, and advisors can plan appropriately.
- Students will have the flexibility to make up missed work. Students will receive at least five school days to complete missed classroom work, and teachers may also determine that certain missed work does not need to be completed. Importantly, students are not expected to complete schoolwork or study while participating in an observance.
- The policy extends beyond the classroom. Students will not be penalized for missing athletic or extracurricular activities because of a religious or cultural observance and will remain eligible to participate in games or matches.
The District recognizes that the religious and cultural traditions observed by families are diverse and that observances do not always align neatly with the school calendar. It’s a shared responsibility to make sure students can honor those commitments without being placed at an academic, athletic, or extracurricular disadvantage.
Families should communicate directly with their child’s school when an absence is anticipated. Students, particularly at the secondary level, are also encouraged to communicate with their teachers, coaches, and advisors in advance.
