Ten Schools, Three Districts, One Community of Learners
Southborough Extended Day Program (SEDP) provides on-site childcare for Southborough families before and after school hours, but also during times where families need help, half-days, some holidays, teacher conference days, as well as February and April vacation weeks.
We strive to provide the highest quality program, where parents are assured of a safe, healthy, happy and fun environment for their children. Our programs are designed to be educational and socially enriching.
The Southborough Day Program operates before and after regular school hours for students in grades K-8. The before-school program is offered beginning at 7:00 AM. The after-school program provides services from the close of school until 6:00 PM.
Our Philosophy
We believe that children are happiest when given choices during their out-of-school time. SEDP provides a "child centered" curriculum. All activites are age appropriate and appealing to school-aged children.
Children are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities so that they may explore new interests and build upon current ones. At SEDP, we foster an atmosphere where children gain independence and are encouraged to make their own activity choices. A variety of activities are offered daily, such as cooking, art, music, drama, science, sports, homework help and more. Activities are often theme-based, providing and introduction to new things.
On a monthly basis, the Site Coordinators, with the help of the SEDP Staff, plan a plethora of activities that provide learning opportunities for the students and also provide reinforcement for social, physical, and academic skills learned during the school day. Much of SEDP’s social skills focus is on building friendships, manners, cultivating positive relationships with peers and adults, as well as teaching skills in conflict resolution.

SEDP has a talented and experienced team of professionals working together to provide high quality programming. Staff members are chosen for their demonstrated ability to work effectively with school-age children.
Prior to employment, all employees must complete a background record check, including a criminal record check (CORI), fingerprinting and at least two professional/personal reference checks.
In addition, all staff maintain current First Aid and CPR certification and are required to participate in annual training and professional development. At SEDP, we strive to hire a diverse group of qualified employees knowing that a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and ages will enrich the program.
