Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s), We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the District’s custodial teams for their hard work clearing our schools after Sunday’s snowfall. It was a tremendous amount of snow to move in a very short time, and their efforts ensured that our buildings were safe and ready for students and staff. Our custodians truly are the unsung heroes of our schools.Looking ahead, the District will hold a virtual Strategic Planning Session this Wednesday evening, and we are also inviting families to participate in an important opportunity to share their input, through a community survey.
As we plan for the next six years, we are asking families to help shape our future by reviewing our current strategic plan and completing a brief survey:
Please review the current plan here: Vision 2026: Educate, Inspire, and Challenge
Please complete the community survey here: Strategic Planning Survey Link
Thank you for helping us shape the future of teaching and learning in Northborough and Southborough. We appreciate your partnership. Respectfully, Gregory L. Martineau Superintendent of Schools |

Flu Signs and Symptoms |
|
The District has seen an increase in confirmed flu and influenza-like illnesses over the past week. Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs.
We recommend closely monitoring for symptoms. Symptoms usually appear 2-3 days after exposure. If symptomatic, please stay home and contact the school nurse. Flu signs and symptoms typically develop suddenly. If you have concerns about symptoms or underlying chronic health conditions, please contact your healthcare provider immediately.
People who are sick with the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:
Fever*/feeling feverish or chills
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Muscle or body aches
Headaches
Fatigue (tiredness)
Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
**It’s important to note that not everyone with the flu will have a fever.
Please continue to inform the school nurse of any flu diagnosis (or any other respiratory illness), and please follow our District Illness Guidelines for return-to-school criteria.
After having the flu or an influenza-like illness, to return to school, both the following must be true: the fever must be free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and the individual must have the stamina to participate in an entire school day.
Please continue to promote good hygiene and healthy habits.
Good hygiene: Encourage regular hand washing, cough/sneeze into your elbow, and avoid touching your face/mouth, especially during cold and flu season, to reduce the spread of germs.
Healthy habits: Ensure you get enough rest, eat a balanced diet, and stay hydrated to strengthen your immune system.
