Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),
The District Librarians are excited for another great year. The Third Annual NSBoro Reads is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3rd at Algonquin Regional High School – mark your calendars for a night of fun! Once again, we would like to have a student-designed t-shirt to celebrate the event. If your child is interested in submitting a design, the guidelines can be found here. Please have your child bring their design and entry slip to their school librarian by November 7th. The winner will be announced on November 14th.
This year, the NSBoro Readers Cup will be awarded at NSBoro Reads. The Cup will be awarded to the school that reads the most books connected to this year’s themes. Please encourage your child to participate. Below are the monthly themes.
Respectfully,
Northborough, Southborough, and ARHS Librarians

The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough were honored to be among 14 districts selected for the first cohort of PRISM grants, which are part of Governor Healey’s Literacy Launch: Reading Success from Age 3 through Grade 3 initiative. Literacy Launch aims to make sure Massachusetts preschool programs, schools, educators, and students have access to high-quality, evidence-based reading instruction. The 2025-2026 school year is the District’s second of five years in this grant. The vision for the PRISM 1 cohort is to:
develop, implement, strengthen, and sustain an evidence-based, culturally and linguistically sustaining multi-tiered system of support for literacy in grades preK-3.
ensure that all students, particularly students from historically underserved groups, have affirming and enriching experiences with literacy learning
reduce reading achievement disparities by race, language status, and disability
During the first year of the grant, coaches from TNTP, an education non-profit, supported the District in executing a systematic and thorough analysis of our strengths and challenges in early literacy. Megan Kelty, the District PreK-8 Literacy Coordinator, partners effectively with the TNTP coaches to lead the PRISM initiative. During the 2025-2026 school year, the District was awarded $634,400, which is supporting the following aspects of the District PRISM action plan:
Increasing the capacity of the literacy team to provide intervention to students and coaching to educators by hiring an additional reading tutor and literacy specialists.
Reviewing and updating resources as needed to ensure aligned, high-quality materials for all elements of literacy instruction, including preschool.
Offering professional development workshops and a course for District educators on the topic of early literacy.
Receiving ongoing coaching from TNTP consultants to lead systematic improvements in early literacy initiatives.
The District is proud to participate in the PRISM1 cohort and grateful for the opportunities it is providing.
