Welcome to the Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough
We are delighted to partner with your family as your child begins their learning journey in our community. Our district is committed to creating a strong sense of belonging for every student—where children feel seen, valued, and supported from their very first day. Kindergarten is an exciting milestone, and we look forward to welcoming your family into a caring, collaborative school community that nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.
This page will guide you through the registration process for your new kindergartener. If you have any question, please contact our Registration Specialist, Sheila Hana, at shana@nsboro.k12.ma.us or 508-486-5115.
The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough support the educational rights under the Every Student Succeeds Act for students who are homeless, in foster care, or military families. If you fall into any of these categories and have questions or are missing registration documents, please contact the District Homeless Liaison, Mary Ellen Duggan at mduggan@nsboro.k12.ma.us, for assistance.
Registration Process
Age Requirement: Students must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2026.
Current Preschool Families: If your student is currently attending our preschool program at the Mary E. Finn School, you will not need to complete the New Student Registration Form. Your student will automatically be placed in their appropriate school for Kindergarten. You are required to provide updated medical documentation. Please see the tab – Information from the Nurses for the requirements. This documentation can be given to your current school nurse.
Southborough Families: If you live in Southborough, your student will attend the Mary E. Finn Elementary School for kindergarten.
Northborough Families:
The Public Schools of Northborough organize its elementary schools by neighborhoods. Please review the document Northborough Elementary Schools - By Street to learn which neighborhood school your child will be assigned to.
Additionally, the District has a Class Size Policy that limits the number of students in each classroom, which may impact the neighborhood school your children attend. Registering early is extremely important as the neighborhood school waiting list is organized by when a parent/guardian fully completes the enrollment form.
