The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough

Ten Schools, Three Districts, One Community of Learners

Second and Third Grade

Our Woodward program is slightly different than our Finn program. We continue to offer enriching activities daily, while taking the projects to the next level! We do more involved projects that may be completed over several days or weeks. We enjoy the outdoors as much as possible by playing games like ga-ga ball, soccer, wall ball, or just swinging on the swings or using our imagination! Just like at Finn, we strive to foster independence and the building of new friendships while learning about other cultures and teaching valuable life skills.

Homework Time

With the change of schools comes more responsibility for our students. The one main difference from Finn that we have at Woodward is dedicated homework time! Staff will be available to help with homework after snack. Kids who choose to do homework will not miss any craft or activity time, so they can rest assured. We ask that you discuss expectations surrounding homework with your children.

Pick-up Procedure

  • Our Woodward program operates from the final school bell until 6:00 p.m. We are run out of the cafeteria.
  • You can pick up using the Remind app or by parking and walking up to the front door and ringing the small doorbell to the right of the main doors.
  • As with the other schools, please make sure anyone picking up has a photo I.D.

Woodward After School Schedule

3:20 – Kids arrive, check-in and wash hands for snack.

3:25 –  Kids have snack, provided by SEDP. We offer 2-3 choices as well as juice.

3:45 –  Recess/Homework time. After snack kids will choose to do homework or play outside or in the gym (weather permitting.) During this time, staff will be available to assist with homework. We as you to talk to your kids about your expectations surrounding homework. If the child tells us that they do not have homework, we will believe them.

4:15 - 4:45/5:00 –  Project/Outside play. Projects range from arts and crafts, group games and other fun, hands-on activities.

4:45/5:00 - 5:45 – Freeplay/Outside play. At free play, your children are able to play with toys and activities in the cafeteria. We have many fun things to explore from board games, magnatiles, legos, action figures, cars, coloring materials and plenty of books and puzzles.

While SEDP knows there are a multitude of things that affect pick-up times, you know what your child likes and what they would be disapointed in missing. Planning pick-up accordingly makes for an easier transition when going home.

To report any absenses, late pick-up or a change in schedule please inform SEDP through text, call or the Remind app as well as informing the office at Woodward.
