Short-Term Study Group for Mascot Review - Presentation Scheduled
Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s):
Over the past five months, Sean Bevan, Principal of Algonquin Regional High School, has chaired the sixteen-member Short-Term Study Group for Mascot Review. I want to acknowledge Principal Bevan’s leadership as he began his principalship at ARHS on July 1, 2020, and was tasked with leading ARHS through a pandemic and a Mascot Review. I also want to thank the members of the Study Group for their dedication to this work.
I am pleased to share with the community that the Study Group is prepared to present its recommendations to the Regional School Committee (RSC) at its Special Meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 6:00 PM. The Special Meeting will be held virtually.
Following Thursday’s presentation, I will provide community members with a digital form to communicate information that they think is important for the RSC to read prior to taking a formal vote to maintain or retire the ARHS mascot. The formal vote will take place at the Wednesday, April 28, 2021, Regional School Committee meeting.
Lastly, the Short-Term Study Group for Mascot Review has done an outstanding job being transparent and communicating its work. In preparation for the April 15, 2021, meeting, I encourage all to review the work by visiting the Study Group for Mascot Review website.
