Welcome to Social Studies

  • The Social Studies Department’s vision is to prepare students for active participation in our democratic society and to provide them with the requisite knowledge to make informed decisions in this era of globalization.  Through offering thought-provoking foundation courses in United States and World History, we hope that students are inspired to become committed and responsible citizens of the world.  In addition to taking the required United States History and World History courses, students are encouraged to explore the variety of elective courses offered.

The Social Studies course offerings that follow permit students to choose between two levels of difficulty in completing the core graduation requirements. A range of elective courses and extracurricular studies are available to students who desire to augment the core curriculum.

Students who seek an accelerated course of study may elect Advanced Placement courses in United States History, United States Government, and Politics, World History, Human Geography and Psychology, depending on grade level.
